Today's meals have been pretty much repeats of the last two days: Taboulleh Transformed for lunch at work and Great Northern Quinoa Falafel as a salad for dinner. Not sick of either yet, but you really don't need pictures. Instead I'm just going to rewind a bit...
As promised, here is the meal myself and the roomies made. All with lovely ingredients from the Dekalb Farmer's Market. Margaret, Caroline, and I were totally overwhelmed for the first loop around the market. Usually I throw things together in my head easily, but it was ingredient overload! However, we stumbled upon some fresh, homemade pasta with herbs and went with it. The menu was Italian and I'm pretty super every veggie was organic. Preparation and photography was a group effort. Thanks for the pictures Caroline!
The Menu
Everything else didn't photograph as well on its own. The main course was fresh herb linguini. We had to get two sauces because we couldn't decide: sun-dried tomato pesto and marinara sauce. We also couldn't pass up the parmesean-garlic bread, which we just toasted and served with olive oil and salt. All of these un-photogenic but delicious items were homemade at the market.
We devoured everything (don't judge), along with a nice gin and tonic to drink for Margaret and I.
If you think we were too full from this feast for dessert, you would be sorely mistaken. For dessert it was Ciao Bella Gelato- Mint Chip and Chocolate Hazelnut. Served right in the carton with three spoons- the best way to eat ice cream. The mint was the best mint ice cream I've ever had. It tasted like the actual herb rather than artificial mint. If you like mint ice cream at all, you need to try this one!
For anyone who likes to cook, eat, or grocery shop, the Dekalb Farmer's Market is a great place to stop in Atlanta. Check out the pictures on the website to get a glimpse if you're still not swayed.
Off to see my grandparents on long island for the next two days... will try to write but no promises. :)
